Are you new to the online money-making world? Or are you looking for some quick extra bucks? If so, then Fiverr is the thing for you!! Get your free-lancing career started at fiverr.com! Quite simply, fiverr.com is where you can earn a fiverr (five dollars). You can either work for the $5, or get a job done in $5.
What is Fiverr??
Fiverr is the world’s largest marketplace where you can buy and sellĀ small products and services. Fiverr.com started off in early 2010 as a micro-contracting platform designed to connect people willing to work, to the people who want to get a job done. Since then, it has hosted more than half a million jobs! On fiverr, services can only be charged for a fixed price of $5. No more, no less! Hence it is a large platform for small freelance jobs.
What can I buy or sell?
There is a wide range of tasks you can do (or get done); from singing a song for someone to creating video testimonials, and from editing a photo to creating a web page! Fiverr has got it all. There are many categories like Graphics, Videos, Fun &Ā Bizarre, Programming, and Writing etc. under which you can do or find your desired job.
How does it work?
Well, it’s a quite simple process. If you want to work, then create a Gig. A Gig is a short description of the job or service you are willing to offer. You create something like this; “I will write an article for you…”, or “I will do yourĀ programmingĀ assignments for you”, or “I will do (something) for you” etc. etc.
After that, share it with the world! Your gig will appear under its respective category. You will be notified when your gig has been ordered. You will then be paid 48 hours after you have successfully delivered your work. So be patient! And don’t think it’s a fraud just because your earnings didn’t come immediately! Fiverr works through PayPal, so you will need a PayPal account to use fiverr.com.
If you want to get a job done,. then find a suitable Gig and order it. You can search by keyword or under the respective category. You will then be asked to pay $5 via PayPal. After that, you can communicate with your seller to track his work progress. Once your work has been delivered, you have 48 hours to request any fixes or changes you want done with the work. You can then provide a feedback about the seller’s work.
(NOTE;Ā Although buyers pay $5 for each Gig, the sellers only get $4 after deducting commissions and other charges)
Planning your Gigs
Time is money. Before deciding upon a Gig, you need to consider the time it takes you to do that task. If you are employed, or a student, then you might want to think twice about choosing a job that you want to do. If your gig takes around 10 minutes, then it’s fine. But if it takes, lets say 20 minutes or more, then you might be in trouble. The whole point of fiverr.com is to earn some cash quickly. But if it takes you the whole day to complete, lets say ten orders, then you will only earn $40 per day, and will miss out on other things like studies, office work etc. Note that not completing a gig has a bad effect on your image at fiverr.
Know your strength! This is very important. Don’t just post a gig about something that you have difficulty doing in bulk. For example, you might offer to write an article. If you get one or two orders, then fine. But if you get more orders, you will eventually get tired and bored. So unless you are good at writing, don’t offer to write any articles. Offer something that you can do best over and over again, without tiring and without having to put in much effort.
Know your market and your worth! Before sharing a gig, ask yourself this. AreĀ peopleĀ looking for such kind of work? Do some research on the topic. Look for similar gigs, and their popularity. If people are actually interested in your gig, then by all means, go ahead! Also know what your gig is worth. For example, if you are offering to make a small app for someone, then think whether it’s actually worth the effort? It’ll be a rip-off if your buyer gets an app for $5 when it’s actually worth more than that! Remember! Fiverr is for small jobs only. If you are willing to do professional work worth more than $5, then you should opt for proper free-lancing platforms, like Elance.
Remember! You have lots of competition. People are willing to do all sorts of things for money. So offer gigs that will stand out from the rest, and that will generate a steady income.
Advertise and promote your Gigs!
This is next phase after you have successfully chosen a gig. You need to promote it as much as you can. If you have a blog, then tell people about the services you provide. It will get some of your readers to try out fiverr.com, and will also increase your chances of getting orders. Also use social networks lie Facebook, Twitter etc. to advertise your gigs for the samew reason.
Forums are another great way to increase your orders. On forums, you can learn about what people want. Provide services accordingly. Participate in those forums so that people who are looking for similar services can get to know about you, and hence they may order your gig.
Create a video about the work that you are willing to do, so that people might know what sort of services they can expect from you. Videos can go on websites like YouTube from where they get many viewers. They can also go on blogs and social networks where people areĀ moreĀ interested in videos than written texts. You can also add your video on your fiverr gig. That way, people will know immediately what sort of work you can do.
Create a portfolio. If you have done successful gigs before, then share them in your description! People will get know about your skills and there’s a greater chance that your new gigs will get more orders.
Try to be fast and over-efficient.Ā Now I know that being over-efficient is frowned upon, but not here! If you do some extra work than was requested by your buyer, chances are that you will get a good review and feedback, and a thumbs up! Also try to provide your service as quick as you can for the same reasons. That way, your earnings will increase (short-term as well as in the long run).
I don’t have any skill! What do I do?
Well, fiverr.com does not require any special skill! If you can’t decide what sort of service you can provide, then take a look at some of the existing gigs, and you will come up with a few ideas of your own. If not, you can always grab a tube of lipstick, a handy camera, and your box of creativity, and you sir, are ready to go fiverr! š
Hopefully, these tips will help you in getting started with your free-lancing career. If you already have, then do share your experiances with us. Regards š

Join http://www.gigstask.com/ and drive members to it. After 5 members you will get a product for free. Its a new fiverr.com alternative.
Really Nice Information… But can you please try to elaborators in simple line if possible I really got some unique information from this post It’s a request please write a post where I can all about Fiverr.Com starting from the gigs information to the end about selling and increasing revenue via gigs
I’ve found the most successful fiverr alternatives are the ones that have niched themselves down a bit and not aiming for the general population. http://www.jacksalive.com caters for students especially in the UK although it’s not country specific AND you don’t need to be a student to register:) It pays out Ā£4 per job ($6.37)
You’ll find it easier to be a big fish in a small pond.
Its all about promotion, Fiverr maybe the biggest and best gig/job related site but if you don’t promote you will surely fail, there are loads of these sites available to promote your jobs on like gigpayrr, fivebucks, fivesquids think about posting on forums and blogs and we are launching a new website soon that will also help with promotion http://www.madgigz.com check it out! just keep promoting your gigs.
Good luck!

It’s great when you start getting those sales on Fiverr but remember too that gig extras are the key to making good money on Fiverr. You need to go from making a measly $4 to $12 or $16 with every sale and you do this by creating gigs that are stripped down and encourage buyers to buy the extras. This will help boost your hourly rate on Fiverr!
