The dramatic, tragic, sensational and emotional scenario of Bollywood movies is its exception. Movies are more likely to do business all over the world depending on choice of viewers. But one thing is quite evident from surveys that Hindi film industry has grown to a huge extent back in late years. Although there is a huge count of movies releasing in a year and of course every single one cannot be a mega hit, but most of good or average budget movies are released all over the world that earn a good enough revenue. Every single year, many big banners release their movies and earn their fortune out of it investing their money at a risk for it can be a super duper hit or a big flop!
Same is the case with year 2014. Many movies got released out of which some became megahits of the year doing largest business worldwide and some could not reach up to the mark.
Kick
‘Kick’ aces the list of highest grossing Bollywood movies in 2014 by earning a net amount of $46 million all over the world. Sajid Nadiadwala is the name behind movie’s production along with Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez playing lead roles in the movie. It became an eye catcher for the audience and especially Salman Khan fans who cannot wait to watch and appreciate the performance of their beloved hero.
Happy New Year
One of the biggest projects coming from great banners like Red Chillies and Yash raj films proved to be the second highest grossing movie of 2014. Yes! It’s none other than Happy New Year that became a mega hit on box office charts. The amazing cast of the movie was one of the chief reasons that provided the movie with a large viewership. The cast included Abhishek Bachan, Depika Padukone, Bomon Irani, Jackie Shroff and the King Khan himself. It has earned $44million which is undoubtedly a commercial success.
Bang Bang
Bang Bang being the official remake of a Hollywood movie ‘Knight and Day’, was an uphill task and a complete risk. The lead roles were played by Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif. The marketing and promotion of the film was amazingly great and two beauties of the movie made their fans much excited. The movie somehow did not disappoint the viewers but the business is not also exceptionally good. Its worldwide business has been estimated to $35 million.
Singham returns
Singham returns is a sequel to the 2011 movie Singham with the same leading role played by Ajey Devgan but with a replacement of female lead by Kareena Kapoor. This action movie is produced by Rohit Shetty. It has made a worldwide business of $33 million. Its music has also played a good role in making it earn audience’s attention and viewership.
Holiday
For all Akshay Kumar fans out there, we have our next movie starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha. Yet another most popular Jodi of Bollywood made it highest net grosser movie in first half of 2014. This action thriller got popularity as well as criticism from jury for some of flaws and blemishes.
Jai ho
Jai ho was a big risk taken by Sohail Khan since its storyline was based on Indian army and some controversial factors were involved. Film got a good enough success due to a conventional charisma of Salman Khan and his acting on his fans. The movie did a business of $6 million making it one of the highest grossing Bollywood movies of 2014.
2 States
Presenting the most favorite and preferably liked-by-audience category, 2 states is a pure love story. Bollywood has been good at making light comedy and this is one of good works in this regard. Arjun Kapoor and alia Bhatt played leading roles and highly appreciated by public called as ‘perfect Jodi’ of the time. This movie earned almost $10 million on international scale.
Ek villain
Ek villain falls in the category of a unique genre that is romantic thriller which is way too challenging to meet all the requirements. Releasing in June 2014 with Shradha Kapoor, Siddharth Malhotra and Ritesh desmukh in leading cast, it took the attention of the audience on a good sustainable level. Its music is one of its remarkable features with songs such as Hamdard, banjara and zaroorat. It earned worldwide revenue of $10.2 million.
Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania
As the name indicates, the next movie on our list is a light comedy and romance based film. Humpty Sharma in the name is Varun Dhawan with Aliya Bhatt as his dulhaniya. Humpty Sharma ki dulhaniya is produced by Karan Johar, itself a great name. The audiences are actually attracted towards the new and young cast of the movie with their best characters.
Gunday
“Gunday” comes with an exception. It is first Indian movie to have its trailer premier at Dubai International Film Festival. Starring Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor with Priyanka Chopra and produced by Aditya Chopra, Gunday made an estimated business of $19 million all over the world. It is a light crime thriller with a strong storyline resulting in bringing it to the list of top 10 Bollywood movies.
Telugu Kick movie is much better than bollywood kick movie. Ek villain is best in terms of songs and Singham returns in terms of action and both are my favorite from this list collection.
