Top 10 Richest Countries In the World 2013

top 10 richest countries 2013So, we’ve effectively entered the year 2013. Every year, organizations such as the World Bank and the IMF (International Monetary Fund) conduct surveys, and come up with statistics regarding the economic conditions in various countries. Since the world’s economy is so uncertain in this era, with small countries becoming rich and old powers gradually crumbling away, these statistics vary from year to year, and the tables turn frequently. This time around, the IMF has released statistics that indicate towards the top 10 richest countries in the world today. So we’ve decided to provide you with this list, along with some statistics. (Note: This ranking is based on GDP per capita, instead of just GDP, as we did with our list of richest countries in 2012).

GDP is a measure of the total goods and services produced domestically.  GDP per capita also takes into account the total population of a country, the investments made by the industry, export and import ratio, consumption, and government spending, etc. Due to so much variance in the standard of living and inflation (etc) among countries, there is no ‘one metric’ that can accurately determine how rich or poor a country is. But GDP and GDP per capita are close as close can get. And they are the two metrics widely used around the world for wealth calculation. Here, we have listed countries based on the GDP per capita.
